Illuminated area - corresponds to 70 FIFA soccer fields, 35 cricket fields or 1300 basketball courts. Requires 3600 light sources (with 250, 1500 and 2000 watt light metal lamps) on 1000 lighting towers to allow good visibility for pilots

The electrical system is powered by approximately 50 diesel generators, each with 13 megawatts of power, which have been installed around the track. The 3600 light sources generate 450 million lumens of luminous flux (1200 to 1600 lux). Around 3 million kilograms of concrete were used for the lighting of the circuit and 500 km of cables were laid.

The issue of energy saving is not at the fore in the Middle East. Normally, the Losail circuit is still fully illuminated twelve hours after the end of the race the following morning.
