Silverstone set on a windswept plateau. It was born as an RAF Silverstone military airport in 1943 . The configuration was the standard one with which all British airports of the Second World War were built: three runways arranged in a triangle.
Opened in 1950. The bikes started racing in 1977.
The track used measures 5.9 km and is the longest in the world. Another characteristic element is the rain which usually ends at least once during the weekend.
HOW TO GET
The Silverstone racetrack is located in the county of Northamptonshire about 100 km from London.
It is recommended that you land in London and reach Silverstone from Euston Station just take a train to Milton Keynes or Northampton - and from there take the X91 bus to Silverstone Park.
