The TT Circuit Assen (also known as the Circuit van Drenthe, i.e. the Drenthe circuit, the province of the Netherlands where it is located) is the track where the Dutch Motorcycle Grand Prix has been held since 1925
It is a sports facility designed specifically for two-wheelers, where cars usually don't run. It has always been considered one of the most difficult in the championship, in fact it has the nickname of the university of two wheels, due to its very high average speeds.
The TT is the only circuit always present in the MotoGP calendar.
Before the inauguration of the definitive track, the race took place on roads open to the public and in homage to this, the world championship trial is called the Tourist Trophy , like the famous road race of the Isle of Man . Until 2015 , the race was always held on the last Saturday in June, while since 2016 it has been held from the last Sunday in June.
Over the years the configuration has changed several times. The current circuit has 18 curves and 10 braking sections.
Asphalt is very abrasive.
